Sex: 0 (None that I read, but man I could have added some and would not think less of Cassie)
Plot: 5 I can not say anything without saying something to spoil it for others.
Overall Enjoyment: 5
Wow and WTH! are common words I use to describe the reading of this book or any book in the series. Some parts I wanted to skip and some parts I wanted more in-depth information on. But I have found that Ms. Chance has a tendency to take the obscure references to info or people from previous books and expound on them in the next books. And between this series and her other series she crosses over a few times.
(River Song voice) ***Spoilers!***
At the end of this book is a real big cliff hanger. And if you are a Docter Who fan all I am going to say is “Rose Tyler I….” is almost exactly how this went down.
John and Cassie are very much the same and the Doctor and Rose if you think about it.
Fantasy, M/M, Erotic Romance
After Vorgell the barbarian f!@#s himself with a unicorn horn, he ends up in a cell with Maddog, a pretty young thief. It’s lust at first sight for Vorgell—but honestly, he can’t help it. Unicorn horn is a potent aphrodisiac, and now he can’t stop thinking about sex. Luckily, Madd is one male witch who knows how to put Vorgell’s new magical body to good use when he tricks Vorgell into a kiss that helps them escape.
Vorgell may desire sex in general—and Madd in particular—but Madd has no intention of being screwed by a man twice his size. He has problems of his own, including an enchanted collar that causes him to desire his most hated enemy. He wants that collar off as soon as possible, but that requires stealing a basilisk egg from the castle they just escaped.
Drawn together by lust and magic, the two men join forces and soon find themselves up to their necks in witches, wizards, and trouble. Vorgell and Madd might just be perfect for each other, but first they have to survive long enough to find out.
Overall Enjoyement: 4.5
I picked this book up at GRL2013 in print due to the first line of this blurb. A barbarian fucking himself with a unicorn horn? Um, heck yeah! That sounds just crazy enough I had to buy it. What I quickly realized was that line was a trick meant to make a reader do exactly what I did—buy the book.
However this was no ploy meant to sell a lousy book. THICK AS THIEVES is a great read which I could not put down. As a life-long fantasy reader, I was thrilled to get a fantasy m/m. Complete with barbarians, dungeons, unicorns, basilisks, and oh yeah! MAGIC!
I will not give spoilers about how this unicorn horn fucking incident propels the story—hey blurbs are hard to write and this one deserves to be rewarded by teasing you to buy the book—but I will tell you it is not as nefarious as one might imagine. It is actually a clever way of mingling sexy with fantasy.
Vorgell is the unfortunate barbarian who fucks a unicorn horn, inadvertently absorbing magic which makes him not only a giant horndog, but it also makes him extremely valuable to any witch that might want to use him for ill purposes. Vorgell gets himself arrested and Madd is the young witch who finds himself stuck in a cell with the giant, horny barbarian. Being clever, Madd uses Vorgell’s unicorn-magic infused blood to free them both. Then the adventure begins.
Unlikely traveling companions thrust together by unique situations, soon both men realize they need each other. Vorgell is a living breathing reservoir of magic because the unicorn horn dissolved in his body, enchanting his blood and his cum. And he’s crazy horny. 24/7/365. If anyone learned about Vorgell and the magic running in his veins, the barbarian’s life would be forfeit. Madd isn’t interested in being the giant man’s bitch and he manages to resist his powerful advances. But he could use the other man’s help. The evil Baron Flemgu placed a magic submission collar on Madd, and he would do anything to get it off. With Vorgell’s help, he might be able to do it. In order to do that, they will have to make deals with thieves and female witches, some who would rather see Madd dead. But getting the collar off is no easy task. They need to get a basilisk egg from Flemgu’s castle. A man hell bent on getting his witch slave back, Flemgu isn’t pleased Madd magicked boils all over his face and he will stop at nothing to get reveng—so going back to his castle is a risky plan. Vorgell’s strength can protect them on their journey but more importantly, when Madd needs an extra boost to his magic… well? Sex is the best way to get it.
Intermingled within a well-developed fantasy world, there is a real attachment forming between Vorgell and the sarcastic witch, Madd. The romance was not forced, but flowed naturally. Though Vorgell will screw anything and anyone, his attraction to Madd and his desire to protect him is genuine. I loved, loved the way Tali Sencer shook up typical m/m roles by making Vorgell a bottom in secret. This suits Madd’s needs after an aggressive sexual past of being forced due to his small size. Both men are surprised to find that the other one is exactly what the other one needs. The sex was spicy but not over the top which complimented the style of the book. The only thing that stops me from giving this book a 5star was the occasional use of modern dialog mixed in with old timey terms like “son of a she-ox.” The modern terminology like “pervy” and “jerking off” drew me out of the story a little, but not enough to put it down. An honest to goodness fantasy, there is just enough sweetness and humor in the romance to make THICK AS THIEVES a must-read for any m/m fan and fantasy lover. It had a HEA and a satisfying ending, but there are stories in this world that are not finished.
I am looking forward a sequel and sure hope one is in the works.

Short Story, Paranormal, M/M
A between the books short from the Pentacles of Magick series. Dennison Scott isn’t sure what’s going on between he and Jake, the hot bartender at Huey’s. But on a sultry night in the South, a little heat and magick can go a long way to figuring it out.
Plot: 3. A bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, and two hot guys who’ve been attracted to each other for quite some time finally decide to hook up. Not necessarily the most original plot, but I felt like it could have had potential.
Sex: 3. It really could have been better! I felt like all I got was “two jerks and a squirt.” The only scene in the “book” could have been more substantial. What could have been a well-written, intense scene, with an entire night of action, was…well, not much of anything really. I don’t get it.
Overall: 2. There’s not much to this review considering the “book” is only 26 pages. I’m not actually sure that this can be called a book. I’ll call it a “scene.”
Whispers Publishing (out of business?)
Twice the tempo, twice the protection, twice the pleasure.
When Sin Crawford and Trace Buchannan start their security firm, they have no idea it will lead them back into Caitlyn Pruitt’s life. Cait left Sin when she realized he liked to share his women with his best friend. Now, years later and many life experiences between them, Sin and Trace take on a body guarding gig for pop singing sensation, Astrid, only to realize the young diva has hired Cait to choreograph the dance moves in her next music video.
Not about to lose Cait from their lives again, both men are determined to dish out their best moves this time around to win her over once and for all…as long as they don’t let their target get killed by a dangerous stalker in the progress.
When I first selected this book for review I made a quick glance at the cover and assumed it was m/m—which is what I usually review for Naughty Edition. But a few pages in and I realized, whoa, there’s a chick in this. Well, the writing was clean, well done and enjoyable so I continued and I was glad I did.
The story tells of two best friends, Sin and Trace, who run security and get hired to protect a bratty pop star (think Miley Cyrus). They will go undercover as dancers in the star’s video. The surprise is that the pop star’s dance instructor is Cait…..the woman from their past.
Several years ago Sin was dating Cait, but his best friend Trace was always there, being sexy and distracting. Unable to resist temptation, one night Trace kissed her. When Sin saw it, she thought it would be the end of their relationship but rather than being mad, he wanted to join in. This was too much for Cait to deal with and she ran, leaving both men with broken hearts.
Now back to present day. The two guys not only must protect the pop star from a vengeful stalker, but they also realize that this might be there one and only chance to convince Cait that she has room in her heart and her bed for both of them.
Overall the writing was excellent, the sex appropriately spicy and I thoroughly enjoyed the suspenseful twist at the end. Too often ménage books are lacking in plot, but this one does not disappoint. I won’t give spoilers, but if you are looking for a quick, spicy ménage, pick up ALL THE WRONG MOVES and enjoy.

One glance was all it took…
I’m a cheater.
I’m a liar.
My whole life is a mess.
I love a man.
No, I love two men…
One makes love to me. The other sets me on fire.
One is my rock. The other is my kryptonite.
I’m broken, lost, and disgusted with myself.
But I can’t stop. This is my story.
My broken love story.
Wrecked. That is really the only way I can describe how I feel after reading this book. It’s a little over a week since I’ve finished it and I’m still reeling from it and processing it. I knew from the beginning that this wasn’t a fairy tale romance novel. I knew I was in for an emotion disaster. What I didn’t know was that I was going to be left emotionally devastated after reading it.
I don’t think I have ever hated a main character as much as I hate Cathy. If she were a real person, I would probably have to kick her ass for being such a selfish BITCH! That’s really the only way I can describe her. Despite hating her, I did connect with her. I felt genuinely sorry for the pain and struggles that she had to deal with, but I can’t fathom why she felt that cheating on her adoring husband with a twit like Arsen would make anything better. I probably would have understood more if she had turned to drugs. But then I suppose I wouldn’t have read this beautifully heart-breaking book.
Plot: 5. This book is about a selfish woman who thinks of no one but herself, doesn’t give a damn about who she destroys with her actions and is incapable of real love for anyone other than herself. The story is told mainly through Cathy’s POV, but does have a few wonderful flashbacks that give us glimpses into Ben and Cathy’s history together, as well as a few chapters from both Ben and Arsen’s POV.
Cathy and Ben have been together for 11 years and are unable to conceive a child. After years of heartbreak over miscarriages, Cathy decides that the best way to handle her grief and self-imposed guilt is to have an affair with the much younger (sexy as hell) bad boy, Arsen. (This will only make sense to heartless, selfish women.) While Cathy may be trying to alleviate her own pain, she is destroying two men in the process – Ben, her kind, caring and ever-devoted husband, along with Arsen. While Ben is the epitome of the perfect husband, Arsen is the typical spoiled rich kid who also only thinks of himself. While neither deserve the pain that Cathy causes, watching (reading actually) how she shatters Ben’s heart was gut-wrenching. I can’t tell you the amount of tears that I shed reading this book.
Sex: 4. This book is about cheating therefore this story contains a lot of graphic sex scenes. While I absolutely adored the sex scenes between Brad and Cathy, the scenes with Cathy and Arsen were painful for me to read, despite being wickedly hot. My heart broke a little more for Brad each and every time Arsen and Cathy were together.
Overall: 5. Even though this book did not leave me feeling warm and fuzzy upon completion, I still absolutely loved it and think it is one of the best books this year. I think one of my favorite things about this book was that it seemed so real to me. I could really see this happening to people or maybe it was that I felt so connected to these characters that I thought they were real. Either way, I walked away from the book feeling as though I hadn’t just read a “broken love story.” I walked away feeling I had just lived and experienced one myself.
This book will bring you out of your comfort zone and break you down bit by heart-breaking bit. While it may have been an emotionally exhausting journey, I am so glad that I was willing to take it. I will never forget this book and how it made me feel and to realize that some clichés are spot on and that you never know what you’ve got until it’s gone, but some clichés are dead wrong because the grass is NOT always greener on the other side. Just ask Cathy.

New Adult, Erotic Romance
Breakout New Adult sensation Monica Murphy returns with a hot new contemporary romance—a heartfelt story of second chances, forgiveness, and redemption.
Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitress job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life.
I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.
Plot: 4. While the blurb of this book gives a very simplistic idea of what’s going on in this story, trust me when I tell you there is so much more here. This story has a more complex plot dealing with Jen’s desperation to escape her family’s grief over the death of her brother and Colin’s almost crippling grief over Danny’s death. I don’t want to give too much away, but trust me that it’s even better that described!
Sex: 4. Oh the buildup in this book. I didn’t think these two were ever going to pull their heads out of their butts and get to it. When they did, someone should have called Smokey the Bear because they were igniting sparks all over the pages. The chemistry between Colin and Jen was almost tangible. Each and every scene was passionate, meaningful and most importantly, believable – perfectly executed. I think I sighed audibly on more than one occasion.
Overall: 4. I read this in a couple of hours without stopping. This was not by choice, but due to the fact that I couldn’t put it down. Reading this story was intense. I was instantly drawn to these two characters and I couldn’t help want to scream for them to get out of their own heads and just open up to each other. The fact that they are both so obviously in love with each other, fiercely protective of one another, but both still wracked with grief over secrets they carry and over the death of their loved one was a journey in emotions for me. This story felt so realistic and ripped my heart out at times over Colin’s noncommittal stance and Jen’s desperation for him to just love her. Ms. Murphy has written a wonderful story that I hope you do not miss out on. If you’re a fan of a “tug at your heartstrings” romance novels, Three Broken Promises is for you.
Capture and Surrender
Market Garden #5
By L.A. Witt
M/M, Erotic Romance
Blurb: Ever since his partner died, Frank has resigned himself to staying single. He wards off the loneliness by spending time with friends on the paintball field and running his high-end brothel, the Market Garden.
After one of his most lucrative rentboys quits, Frank is thrilled when a gorgeous replacement walks through the door. A former US soldier, Stefan is hot, bold, and perfect for the Market Garden’s clientele, especially those with a thing for camouflage and drill sergeants. He’s perfect for Frank, too, except Frank has a rule about not getting involved with his own rentboys.
During a frisky game of paintball, Stefan makes it clear that he doesn’t care about the rules. Not the rules of the game, and definitely not Frank’s refusal to get involved. He captures Frank on the field using stealth and cunning, and makes it clear that he’ll do anything to keep a hold of him off the field too.
Don’t you just love it when you stumble upon a fabulous book only to realize it’s not a stand-alone, but actually one in a series? I was beyond excited to find out that this gem of a story is book 5 in the Market Garden Universe series.
The Market Garden is a London club that caters to the better-off. Businessmen and bankers come here to relax and indulge in their every whim and fantasy, and Market Garden offers it all in top-shelf quality: threesomes, voyeuristic pleasures, domination, ropes and camo and leather. Men of every stripe, color, and nationality deliver these high-end services—everyone has their reasons to sell sex. And it’s the hottest sex in town.
Be still my beating heart! Now, down to the nitty gritty.
Plot: 5. Ok, I’ll try to do my best and not give away too much. I thought I was walking into an erotica novel and walked out after having read a love story. Yes, a LOVE story. Frank, the owner of Market Garden, has vowed to stay out of relationships since losing the love of his life and most certainly isn’t screwing around with one of his employees. Until, Stefan walks in. Stefan is an ex-US soldier, 100% alpha male, the hottest new employee at Market Garden and he’s gunning hard for Frank. Things heat up when Frank asks Stefan to join him and some of his buddies in a kinky game of paintball. This story is about more than a few guys capturing each other and playing “Dirty Prisoner of War” on the field. It’s about wanting something so bad, finding out it will never be the way you want it to be and having to either walk away or create something different altogether. The story touches on sensitive subject matters and handles them with great care. I was very emotional reading this book and will admit that I shed a few tears over it.
Sex: 5. Hot. Hot. Hot. I mean c’mon the book is about a pimp and a male hooker. Of course it’s going to be hot. The “Dirty Prisoner of War” games that were played on the field were super hot and really scratches the voyeuristic itch. There are some really intense scenes that are not just erotic, but I’m going to say are damn romantic. Seriously, they were and were described in amazingly graphic detail. Yummy!
Overall: 5. Three words —I loved it. I really can’t say a whole lot more than that. It was written perfectly, amazing plot and hot sex. I read this book a couple of days ago and I’m still on a little bit of book high from it. It really touched me and that is what tips the book from the Good Read category to the Great Read category. While this book can be read as a stand alone, do not miss out on this book or any of the others in the series.
Quid Pro Quo (Market Garden, #1), Take It Off (Market Garden, #2), If It Flies (Market Garden, #3), It Fornicates (Market Garden #4) and Capture & Surrender (Market Garden #5).
