Club Heat, 1

Independent bartender Kit Blank has a problem lately, and it comes in the form of Jax Heart, the sexiest and most sophisticated vampire in the entire city.

While she’s more than happy to hit the sheets, chat it up, and spend all her free time with Jax, the thought of actually committing to him leaves a bad taste in her mouth. Worse yet, as much as she digs Jax, he’s been completely turning her off lately by pushing her toward a real commitment…the kind that comes with fangs. Kit is torn. Does she really love Jax, or is she truly only ready for a boy toy?

But it appears she may have underestimated Jax, who shows up at Club Heat to surprise her in a whole new ensemble…leather jacket, hand ties and all. The only problem is, when Kit’s ready for round two, Jax doesn’t actually remember any of it. Is Jax lying? Has Kit gone crazy? Or are they both suffering from a mysterious case of double vision?

Be Warned: menage sex (MFM), sex toys, anal sex, bondage

Sex: 3

Overall Enjoyment: 2

I am not quite sure I understand the metaphysics behind the changes in Jax. I can see how the bad boy routine is a very popular turn on for women, but I didn’t understand the purpose of the events. If the attitude and the change was just to drive the characters to sex then okay, flimsy but okay. I can’t say I liked this one, but I don’t dislike it. I would have gone a different direction for more stable and believable HEA or HFN. I would not recommend this one because it just left me befuddled. Maybe if its gets a revamp the author can them add about 10k words to it to round out the story more.

Jennifer Dixon never expected to meet Patrick Thompson let alone get pregnant with his baby. One night of passion together should never have had consequences, but it did.

Patrick never forgot the woman who saw beneath the playboy exterior. When he discovers his mystery woman is pregnant with his child, he sets out to woo her. He wanted her then and he intends to keep her now.

However, outsiders are determined to break them apart. One night, Patrick storms out leaving Jennifer broken-hearted. In that one moment their lives are changed forever.

Only when it’s too late does Patrick realize what really matters to him. Can he win back Jennifer’s love when everything is set against it.

This was a decent book at best. It was predictable very unrealistic, I couldn’t even imagine that happening and dialogue was cheesy. Why would a woman life has been run by her family suddenly grow a backbone. However, she may have grown a backbone against her family but she never grew one against the man she supposed to love. He treats her like a servant. Patrick comes across as an arrogant self-serving bastard. I would never fall in love with this person; I don’t even want to talk to this person, let alone have him be the father of my child.

Review: Twice Tempted by Jeanine Frost

A night Prince novel

Paranormal romance

Overall Enjoyment: 3.5

Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges . . .

Leila’s psychic abilities have been failing her,and now she isn’t sure what the future holds. If that weren’t enough, her lover Vlad has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she’s also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever–especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won’t admit that he loves her.

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity . . .

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the cross hairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust–the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other, or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity . . .

I have to say I wasn’t very happy with this book. It seems that it took a very long time for the plot to get where we’re going. Towards the end, the ending of the chapters seemed like the end of the book. But it kept going. By the time that I actually got to the end of the book my brain was confused. The story climaxed it had a satisfying ending but it kept going yes they were and resolve the issues but that could have taken it into the next book. I was stopped it at maybe three quarters into the actual book and it would have been fine for me.

The sex in the book seems forced lacking that moment or “je ne ce quoi”. Yes I know that was the way he had to treat her to make this story evolve. It still does not make it right. It just shows that women stay will put up with anything. And I don’t like that Leila had to settle.

This whole book was just frustrating for me from the beginning to the end. Don’t get me wrong I love the characters I love the author I just didn’t like this book as much as her others.

Review: Bear Necessities by Dana Marie Bell

Bear Necessities

Halle Shifters

Paranormal Romance, shifters

Sex: 5

Plot: 4.5

Overall Enjoyment: 5

To hold onto his love, he must release his beast…

Once a Bear sets his mind on a mission, it’s best to stay out of his way. Alexander “Bunny” Bunsun is that Bear.
Something’s not right with his cousin Chloe, and he’s come to Halle, PA, to sort it out, turn his Harley around and head home to Oregon. Until an enticing scent lures him into the local tattoo shop.

There she is. An inked, Southern-drawled she-Wolf with lime-green hair. His perfect mate.

The Tabitha Garwood’s rotten day just got worse. Her Outcast status makes her a target for harassment with alarming regularity. And now, in the middle of a root touch-up, looking like a half-melted Skittle, she’s met her destined mate. The only upside? She finally has a protector in the form of a huge, tattooed, shaved-head Bear who vibrates with carefully restrained power.

When Chloe is left for dead and Tabby is threatened, only Alex can keep his growing family safe. Giving Tabby the loving
Home she needs, though, could come at a price—Alex must give up the control he’s worked a lifetime to attain.

Which means someone could die at the hands—and claws—of his beast.

I absolutely loved the fact a bear shifter is named Bunny. I can’t get enough of Dana’s books. Well since the Halle shifter series is pretty much done, I figured what would it hurt to try her other shifter series. I like the brothers and the sisters from another mother. Together I have a feeling they are going to reek havoc in that little town. Can’t wait to read some more.

Warning: This book contains explicit sex, graphic language, some violence, a
bit of bondage, and a Sidhe Lord determined to claim and protect what is his.

Okay aside from the new cover, the book was WOW.  I really don’t care for the new cover. 🙁 If I had my way we would be seeing the old one, which may not have been too accurate but it was better than this haggard guy that looks like he ate a child or two. So to express my displeasure of the new cover I have put a sad face on it and make put it at the right of the page.. Why? Because I can. *insert evil laugh here*

Review: Breathe by @sloanparker

By Sloan Parker

Sex: 2.5 (a little on the light side)

Plot: 4

Overall Enjoyment: 4

Lincoln McCaw lost everything—his home, his job, his partner—after he caused a fatal accident. A year later, he’s drowning the guilt and despair in whiskey, but he needs to move on. His sister and her kids are counting on him. Then he meets a man who ignites a passion Lincoln thought he’d never find. Too bad one night is all they can have together. Now he needs to figure out how to turn away from the only person who makes him feel alive…before whoever is sending him threats decides Lincoln needs to suffer more than he already has.

Jay Miller is surrounded by grief and misery until he finally gives in to all those years of sexual fantasies about being with another guy. Realizing he’s ended up in the arms of the man who caused his wife’s accident, he tries to pull away. But how can he give up a friendship he needs more than anything—a friendship and a love that could save him? He may not have time to make the choice before someone else destroys it all.

Breathe is a beautifully sad romantic story about love, forgiveness and redemption. This is a story about falling in love with a person because of who you want to be for them. Lincoln and Jay proved that love could conquer all, even when family gets in the way and the world is just as unforgiving.

I have to say that this story did make me tear up, a little. I did get frustrated with Lincoln for being a dumbass half the time or Jay being so unbelievably trusting. But looking  back at how I was at Jays age and how I am now at Lincolns age, I see that their emotions and actions are realistic and it is probably something I would have done in their shoes.
