Sergeant Jason Holt and his boyfriend Sergeant Patrick Wentworth have been in a secret relationship for almost ten years. When the daily paper brings news of the repeal of the military’s ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy, they think their prayers have finally been answered. Yet things aren’t always as easy as they seem, with not everybody at work supportive of their lifestyle and even their parents skeptical. Will they finally be able to be out and proud?

Plot: 5. This Romance on the Go novella centers around enlisted men, Jason and Patrick. Together since their first year at West Point, this story details their ten year relationship before, during and after the “Don’t Ask. Don’t Tell policy is established by the government.

Sex: 4. There are quite a few scenes in this book that were pretty freaking hot! They start early on (page 5 to be exact) and definitely satisfied my craving for some camo-wearing M/M action. This book really got me going and did not disappoint.

Overall: 4. I feel that the author did a fantastic job portraying what I can only imagine homosexual men and women in the military must feel like. This novella was really quite touching. I can’t imagine what it must be like to not be able to express your feelings for the person you love, to have to hide in fear of physical abuse, losing your job and worst of all, losing family and friends. This novella addressed all of those topics in such an honest and respectful way and I am so glad that this author had the balls to address such a sensitive subject. For this, I salute Ms. Kendall, as well as all of our enlisted men and women – gay or straight. THANK YOU!

Review: Dark Days by Arya Grey

Dark Days

by Arya Grey

Regan Steele is a young stripper who has gone through life assuming she’s the only one who can see and annihilate the demons that have plagued her since childhood. She certainly doesn’t expect to meet another Hunter, let alone fall for his insufferable ass.
Wyatt Recker has walked the earth for most of his life. Alone. When he stumbles across Regan he knows his attraction to the girl can mean only one thing—trouble. But, he soon realizes that no matter his rules and regulations, he cannot deny her for long.
When the demon world shifts, stakes are higher than ever. Can Regan and Wyatt come out of it alive, or will their love for one another endanger them further?

Not sure where to start with this one as I am left scratching my head wondering “what the heck did I just read?” Regan Steele is a part-time stripper and full-time demon hunter. She has spent her life fighting with demon spawn creatures, while trying to avoid being locked up in the looney bin by her family or worse, dead. It’s a lonely life she leads. Until one night, while working the pole, Wyatt Recker (ridiculous name I know!) finds his way into the club and sets his sights on her. When the demons attack, Regan is shocked to learn that Wyatt is a hunter as well. Curious to find out what he knows and if he can help her, Regan follows him in the hopes that he may help find a way to end these creatures once and for all and to find normalcy in the hellish life she’s had to endure.

Plot: 3. The story was OK. I find it hard to create a compelling and seriously entertaining story in only 56 pages. I liked the fact that the story took place in the Louisiana bayous. If you’ve never been in one at night, you cannot imagine how creepy they REALLY are! What irritates me to no end in the book, is that it is assumed that people from the south fail to know how to use the English language properly. While that is the case with some people here, it’s not the case with most and the stereotype drives me crazy! I digress though. So, we’ve got a stripping demon hunter and cowboy demon hunter, searching for demons. Why? I’m not really sure. I don’t have the heart to read it again to try to find out why.

Sex: 2. Yes, there was sex in the book, but it was so rushed and ridiculous that I wanted to laugh while reading it. Some of the positions they were supposed to be in didn’t even seem humanly possible to me unless Regan was a stripping, demon hunting, contortionist. Ehhh…I couldn’t get into it.

Overall: 2. If you’re really into books about demon hunting and need a “naughty nooner” then give this one a try. It’s not AWFUL, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to my friends. Take that for what it’s worth.

Review: Trace Elements by Kate Donovan

TraceElements4xTrace Elements

by Kate Donovan

Romanctic Suspense

Review and Synopsis:

The premise of this book intrigued me from the get-go. Nikki Gower, the current “It Girl” who plays badass Special Agent Annika Trace on the hit TV show “Trace Elements” has been recruited to help a real FBI case involving the kidnapping of a four year old girl named Linzie. Linzie has been so traumatized by her kidnapping and subsequent rescue that she refuses to speak to anyone. Knowing that “Trace Elements” is Linzie’s favorite TV show, Nikki is assigned the task of reaching out to Linzie as Special Agent Annika Trace in the hopes that she will reveal information desperately needed to catch the kidnappers.
Special Agent (super-sexy) Josh Saxon absolutely HATES this idea. Why on earth would the FBI need a sexy woman who merely portrays an agent on TV be able to get through to the girl he rescued? Because she’s Annika F’ing Trace, that’s why! In character as Annika, Nikki establishes a relationship with Linzie that slowly brings her out of her shell and connects with Nikki in a way that just may get Special Agent Saxon the information he needs to bring the criminals to justice.
After seeing Annika bond with Linzie, Josh’s opinion of her slowly starts to change and he is warming up not only to mission at hand, but to Nikki as well.
This is a fast-paced read that is filled with quick-witted banter, action and romance. I sincerely hope that this book is the first of more.

Plot: 5 – This storyline was unique and well written.
Sex: 2 – This was the one area I felt let down by. I would have liked more details. Not necessarily erotic descriptions (Ok, yes I would have liked more descriptions, but I understand not everyone needs that and maybe Ms. Donovan doesn’t write erotic novels), but most scenes left a LOT to the imagination and the sex was only eluded to.
Overall: 4 – I thought the story was so well written, original and intriguing that the less than stellar sex scenes didn’t stop me from enjoying the story or recommending to my friends. Had the book been a little dirtier, I’d have given it 5 stars for sure!

Having never read one of Ms. Donovan’s books before, I was quite pleased. I can’t wait to check out her other novels.

Review: Catch Me If You Can by Stacey Espino

Erotic Western Menage a Quatre Romance

Christina is an ordinary woman, working a dead-end job as a bank teller. When her late grandmother gives her the gift of a luxury vacation, she looks forward to the break from reality. But instead of an upscale resort, she arrives at a working ranch with three dead sexy cowboys. They may not offer to give her the spa treatment, but they’re eager to please her in other ways.

Just when the relationship between Christina and her cowboys moves to the next level, she’s forced to leave the ranch in order to protect the men she loves. She runs from them, knowing that if they catch her, she won’t be able to stay away. But being together seems destined to failure. Can they overcome the obstacles facing their loving ménage?

Christina is a bank teller with no man, and no future worth looking forward to. She lives in the city, at home with her parents. At the age of 28, this is not how she thought her life was going to turn out to be. She dreams of the summers she spent on her grandmother’s farm, enjoying the countryside, longing to relive the days of living the country life. When her beloved grandmother passes away, Christina is given her inheritance – a two-month luxury vacation. Little did she know that her grandmother had a trick up her sleeve and may know exactly what her granddaughter needs – a two-month vacation with three of the sexiest cowboys on this side of the Mason-Dixon line.

Plot: 4 I am always a fan of the ménage à trois, but I’m an even bigger fan of the ménage à quatré. (Not sure if that’s a real term, but it sounds sexy right?) One, mostly innocent and sweet girl, looking for her place in the world is thrust into the arms of not one, not two, but THREE, broken and lonely cowboys. (Sigh…dreamy I know.) How will she ever choose? Will she have to choose? What’s a poor girl to do? All three of them!
Sex: 4 For such a sweet and innocent girl, Christina has one hell of a naughty streak. There were some blush-worthy scenes in this book. From a scene up against a barn door, to one with three guys at one time, this story definitely will satisfy any multiple partner kink that you may enjoy reading about.
Overall: 4 This is a short book, with 126 pages filled with love, passion, angst (my favorite) and steam. Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. The story is very well written, it flows well and kept me enthralled. If you’re looking for a wicked-hot cowboy read, pick this one up. It will leave you as satisfied as the cowboys left Christina. Christina took the lyrics “Save a horse. Ride a cowboy.” to heart in this book. Enjoy!

She’s a single woman starting her dream vacation. He’s a sexy billionaire stuck on her flight. The mile high club is accepting new members. Gwenevere is a free woman for the first time in her life, and she’s eager to fulfill a life-long dream of traveling across Europe. She kisses her two grown children goodbye, then boards a plane to London. By accident, she bumps into Phillip Connor, a sexy billionaire, and he quickly takes a keen interest in her. During the long flight, he seduces her with his bluntness and charm. She teases him with her spicy words. The roller coaster of sexual tension drives each of them insane with lust. When Phillip begs Gwen to meet him privately in one of the facilities, she will have to decide if she’s ready to join the mile high club with one hot and playful billionaire. Reader Advisory: This book contains language, graphic sex. This story is part of a series about a woman’s sexual journey and is therefore erotica rather than erotic romance. The rating reflects the erotica content only.

Gwen powered on her Kindle sitting on the tray while she held her cup. Knowing how playful Phillip seemed, she expected to see a message from him. After her screen illuminated, she went to her inbox and discovered she’d guessed right about him.

Phillip.Connor@… A big heart is not the only BIG thing I have. How are you feeling now?

Gwen typed her response.

I didn’t get a chance to see if you had something else big. Perhaps you can show me sometime. Thanks to you, I’m feeling quite hot, but the water and ice are helping. How are you feeling?

Phillip.Connor@… I would gladly show you how big my something else is if you venture this way again. Only hot? How about wet? As for me…I’m hard and ready to explore your gorgeous body. I couldn’t take my eyes off your ass when you bent over. A woman should never tempt a man with her ass, especially when it is as divine as yours is. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. By the way, I sneaked a peek down your blouse. You have a mole on your right breast.

Gwen glanced down at her chest. Sure enough, she could see the mole down her shirt since she’d unfastened the top couple of buttons. He must have looked when he whispered in her ear. Crazy, sexy devil.

Plot-2 There really wasn’t a plot. If trying to get sex on a plane with a stranger is a plot, then yes there is a plot.

Sex– 4 Before there was sex, Gwen and Phillip had some hot texting going on. I think it made the first sex scene very hot on its own. The second and last scene could have stood alone and was just as hot and dirty, like I like it.

Overall Enjoyment– 3 I have not read too many books that end like this one. I was a little disappointing that the relationship ended there and that this is neither a HFN or a HEA. I felt like I needed a resolution to this. But I knew from the beginning that this was a series and this is just one diary entry of many more to come. I hope that one day Gwen will make one last entry and decided to keep him.

A man who thinks he has what he wants.
Bran Johnson always knew he wanted to be a Marine. What makes it even better is longtime gal pal TK is now stationed at the same base. Unfortunately, Bran is having a hard time dealing with his feelings when he realizes that TK is considered a hot commodity on base. Worse, he finds himself taking a backseat to her admirers.
A woman who always wished for more.
Tess Keller has loved Bran since they were in high school. The former football captain always treated her like a friend so she tried to move on. Unfortunately, he’s in her business constantly now. One passionate argument leads to more than either of them expected. Tess knows it isn’t going to last because Bran is never going to settle down. So, to save face, she suggests they stay friends, only with the side benefit of being sometime lovers.
A Marine determined to win at all costs.
Bran agrees to the friends with benefits idea just to keep himself close to Tess. She might think he’s not around for the long haul, but this is one Johnson brother who knows exactly what he wants…and just how to get it. And what he wants is Tess in his bed and in his life forever. Nothing will stop him, not even Tess herself.

Plot: 3. While this is not the most original plot ever written, it was wickedly entertaining. I loved that Tess was a tough girl. (I do NOT enjoy books with weak women.) She has a smart mouth and gives as good as she gets. Bran deliciously sexy, wildly possessive and was so sweet that he gave me a toothache. Sigh…possessive soldiers are so drool worthy! Anyway, I loved the chemistry between these two. It was electric and had me dying for them to get it on already!

Sex: 4. Oh the first time they finally hooked up I was squealing with delight. It was as hot as I had hoped it would be. There isn’t a lot of sex in this book as the novella is only about 80 pages, but it was just enough to enhance the story and keep it a perfectly blended balance of sex and story.

Overall: 4. This book is wonderfully written and thoroughly entertaining. I absolutely loved the tension and the angst that Tess and Bran felt. I felt it too. My only complaint, which is really a compliment, is that I wish it was longer. I feel that this story could have been even better had it been 250-300 pages. Maybe that’s just my wishful thinking and secretly begging the author for more. It was such a great story and I can’t wait to read more!

Next book in the series is Tempt Me then Touch Me.
