Let me start off by saying that if you have not read the other books in the Inside Out series, stop here and do not read any further. **This is Mark’s novella and contains spoilers for the other stories.**
Lisa Renee Jones is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors because of her wonderful imagination and no one, I repeat, NO ONE can write a cliffhanger as well as she can. Once again, we are left with a big one at the end of this book.
The Master Undone is a short story told in Mark’s POV about Mark traveling to New York to be at his mother’s side as she undergoes cancer treatments. Mark is still reeling from his loss of Rebecca. For such a dominant man, I was quite touched to see how broken he was by the decisions he mad that lead to her untimely demise. Upon arriving at the airport, Mark is greeted by Crystal, the new Sales Manager at Riptide. Crystal is nothing like the women that usually attract Mark-she’s direct, bold and somewhat dominant herself. Despite the fact that she is his employee, Mark cannot resist her charms.
I really enjoyed Crystal’s character and the quick-witted humor she possesses. I cannot wait to see how she and Mark’s “relationship” progress in Mark’s full-length novel that Mrs. Jones has said is in the works.
Plot: 4 – I really enjoyed getting to know Mark more. I didn’t like him in the other books and after this one, I can’t wait to read more.
Sex: 3 – Since this is a novella, there weren’t many scenes and the ones they did have were pretty tame. I would have enjoyed a bit more steam.
Overall: 4 – While it was a quick read, about 40 pages, this story really opens the door to expand the series more and I’m dying to know what happens! Damn cliffhangers.
***Please, if you enjoy books about BDSM and you haven’t read this series yet, do yourself a favor and get this on your TBR list. You will not be disappointed. Here is the preferred reading order: If I Were You , Journals 1-4, Being Me , Journal 5, Revealing Us, and The Master Undone.
